WordPress maintenance with no retainer.
Updates, backups, security, periodic fixes. Pay only when needed, no bloated packages or annual contracts. €45/hr, written estimate before intervening.
- !Plugins stuck on versions months behind
- !WordPress core not updated
- !Expired SSL or missing HTTP redirect
- !Site getting slower over time
- !Backups nobody has run in a year
- !Emails from host: deprecated plugins or vulnerabilities
- 01Nobody looks after the site updates
- 02Fear that an update will break something (fair enough)
- 03Poor hosting with no alerts
- 04Abandoned plugins still active
- 05Database full of stale transients and orphaned metadata
- 06Security ignored until an attack happens
A repeatable procedure, not guesswork.
- 01
Audit
Check plugin versions, theme, core, PHP. Check backups, SSL, error logs. You get a report of what's there and what's wrong.
- 02
Backup
Full snapshot of files and database before touching anything. Always.
- 03
Updates
Plugins, theme, WordPress core. One at a time, testing after each. If something breaks, I roll back and look for an alternative.
- 04
Security
Check admin users, file permissions, suspicious login attempts. Remove deprecated plugins, exposed API keys, orphaned database tables.
- 05
Cleanup
Expired transients, infinite post revisions, backup images never deleted. The database breathes again.
- 06
Report
Email with: what I updated, what looked off, what to fix soon, what can wait. Minutes billed separately.
How much can it cost?
Indicative range. Final estimate after seeing the site.
Update stuck plugins, fix a specific error, SSL check. One targeted intervention solving one specific thing.
Audit + updates + database cleanup + security checks. Site goes back to a clean, controlled state.
Sites with no maintenance for years: obsolete plugins, bloated database, cascade errors. Part of the configuration needs rebuilding from scratch.
The questions I always get.
01Is there a fixed monthly cost?
+
No retainer. I don't sell maintenance packages. When you need something, you contact me, I give you an estimate, I work, I bill real 30-minute blocks. If nothing is needed in a month, you pay nothing.
02Do you do automated backups?
+
I back up before every intervention. For regular automated backups I recommend a plugin (UpdraftPlus works well) or your hosting service. If you want me to handle it, we do it per Intervention, not per subscription.
03Which updates do you handle?
+
Plugins, theme, WordPress core, PHP. I update in staging first when possible, then production. If something breaks, I restore the backup and look for a fix. I don't update blindly and hope for the best.
04How are you different from automatic maintenance services?
+
Jetpack, ManageWP, InfiniteWP handle updates automatically. I handle them with judgement: I know which plugin had problems with the latest release, which update is worth delaying, which host is struggling. The difference is 20 years of watching other people's mistakes.
